SPEAKER 28TH APRIL 2022 at 7.00 for 7.30pm start. Visitor Fee for the evening just £3, payable on the night.
Michael has been taking photographs for most of his life but more seriously since Autumn 2016. He specialises in photographing sport and music, but also enjoys travel and street photography. Based near Salisbury, he is one of the house photographers at The Joiners music venue in Southampton, and photographs regularly for Hampshire Cricket Club, Salisbury Football Club and Druids Lodge Polo Club. He has photographed some 25 different sports and is always looking for new opportunities.
The talk is about how to get started in these fields of photography and provides examples of what works and what doesn’t. "I provide the metadata for each of the images shown, drawing attention to points of interest – for example, I show the different effects that can be achieved from fast and slow shutter speeds during a speedway race".
"During the first half of the talk, I cover some general principles and then talk about taking photographs at Salisbury Football Club and Hampshire Cricket Club, as well as photographing bands at The Joiners music venue in Southampton".
"The second half is a bit more ‘free form’, depending on my mood, but I normally cover photographing a music festival and a varied range of sports, which might include archery, surfing, athletics, rock climbing, polo, ice hockey, golf, snooker, bowls, cycling, touring car racing..."
